Healthy Eating Habits Are As Easy As 1, 2, 3
So many diets, these days, stress no carbs and no fat. However, these are two of the most important ingredients to any healthy diet. In fact, healthy fats, proteins, and good carbohydrates are the three key ingredients to staying healthy. Not only will these components keep you healthy, but they will allow you to burn any excess fat that you may be carrying around. Hence, eating a well-balanced diet filled with these ingredients will give you the energy you need to enjoy your life to the fullest.
The trick, to such a diet, is portion control. The majority of people eat way more carbohydrates than one needs, and much less protein. It would appear; however, that fat consumption is right around where it should be. In order for this to be effective you need to focus on consuming 40/30/30; 40% carbohydrates, 30% protein, and 30% healthy fats.
Healthy fats may be a confusing term to some. These fats can be found in vegetables, meats, and low fat dairy products. Good carbohydrates can also be found in vegetables. Proteins are most often found in meats and dairy products. Do you see a pattern here? If you stick with a diet that consists of natural foods rather than processed or refined foods, you will be on the road to a healthier, thinner you.
Learning how to change the way you eat is a little easier than most thing. First things first, you need to want to eat healthier. Not because you want to lose weight or fit into a certain size within a matter of months, but because you want to live a more fulfilling life. The desire to be healthy will get you through the rough times and cravings; a desire to lose weight is often not enough. Once you have made this decision, start by replacing one meal at a time.
It’s quite simple, actually. Start with breakfast, as an example. Even if you don’t eat breakfast, you should. Try a breakfast of eggs, fruit, and toast or yogurt and nuts; natural foods not processed. Do this for a few days, and then move forward to eating a more balanced lunch and so on and so forth. You want to get to the point where you are eating 5 smaller portioned meals, each day, rather than 1, 2, or 3.
If you follow this plan, by 21 days – or 3 weeks – eating naturally and healthier should be second nature to you. What you have done is created a habit. This habit is now hard for you to break; hence, you have elongated your life expectancy as you are now eating in a manner that benefits your body and health. You may still suffer from cravings here and there, but these will eventually work themselves out if you push through them and eat an apple with peanut butter rather than cookies. Remember, eating healthy is for you and no one else.
