Dental Floss – How to Floss Correctly

Posted on July 6, 2018

Everyone knows that if you want to keep your smile beautiful and avoid costly and painful dental work then you need to brush your teeth twice a day. What Is Dentist But there are many people who don’t realise that daily use of dental floss is just as import and if you want to keep your teeth and gums healthy.
Effective flossing should remove all food debris and tarter from between the teeth and below the gum line – the hard to reach areas that brushing alone can’t clean. To floss properly you should first wind around 10 centimetres of dental floss around your index finger then clutch the other end between the thumb and index finger of your opposite hand. You should unwind the floss from the index finger on one hand and round the finger on the other as you go along so that you are using clean floss between each tooth.
Be gentle when you floss as the gums are sensitive. Move the floss backwards and forwards to slowly ease it between the teeth and below the gum line. Curve it around the bottom Augmentin 875 Dosage For Tooth Infection of the tooth as you do the gums. Good flossing means doing the molars at the back as well as the easier to reach teeth at the front. This might take practise to do well.
If you find your gums bleed a lot when brushing and flossing see your dentist as you may have gum disease. It is OK if the bleeding only occurs once in a while as the gums are delicate and you may just have been a little too vigorous with your brushing or flossing, or for women hormone changes (during the menstrual cycle or pregnancy) can make the gums temporarily more sensitive.
Flossing between meals is best for good oral hygiene, but most people will find their teeth stay in excellent condition with just flossing once a day.
